2NE1 collaborates with Black Eyed Peas leaderOne of the hottest girl groups in Korea, 2NE1 first appeared in public in ripped skinny jeans and neon fishnets. Their fresh hipster image and breakbeat sound have now caught the attention of Will.i.am, leader and producer of the Black Eyed Peas.
A friend of YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun-suk reportedly showed the American producer a 2NE1 music video to the American producer, who immediately expressed interest in collaborating with the girls.
On Aug. 17, Yang revealed through the company’s official homepage: “2NE1 has been working with Will.i.am for the past couple months in Los Angeles and London. They have finished recording 10 songs, all in English. Three of 2NE1’s members are fluent and facilitated the project.”
The group is now in the midst of initial preparations for its debut in Japan and the United States, while remaining active in Korea.
Local cable channel M-Net will broadcast a behind-the-scenes look at 2NE1’s collaboration with Will.i.am in September.
