National volleyballers face rivals Japan in qualifier

The national volleyball team will rely heavily on its top two players for its 2011 FIVB World League qualifiers to be held over two days starting today in Nagano, Japan.

Korea will have to defeat its rivals Japan in the two-game qualifier to earn a spot in next year’s event. According to head coach Shin Chi-yong, the team can count on its attack featuring two aces - Moon Sung-min and Park Chul-woo - to make up for its weak defense.

Korea leads the all-time matchups between the two countries with the record of 62 wins and 44 losses.
