Kim continues bang-up debut season for Chiba

Kim Tae-kyun of the Chiba Lotte Marines hit his 20th home run of the season in the fifth inning against the Orix Buffaloes on Sunday. In a successful rookie season in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), Kim has maintained his cleanup spot in the Marines lineup and has posted a .269 average with 20 home runs and 82 RBI.
Kim is having the most successful rookie season for a Korean player in his debut season in the NPB. Lee Seung-yeop of Chiba Lotte hit .240 with 14 home runs and 20 RBI in 2004, Lee Byung-kyu of Chunichi Dragons hit .262 with nine home runs with 46 RBI in 2007 and Lee Jong-beom of Chunichi Dragons hit .283 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 1998.
