Saving money on taxi and shuttle buses to airports

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced yesterday that it will provide transfer discounts for passengers riding taxis and Incheon International Airport shuttle buses with a transit card in Seoul and Incheon areas. The changes will be enforced from November 1.

The measure aims to cut travel costs for passengers who have to hop a cab to get to an airport shuttle bus because their homes or workplaces are far from the bus stops.

Passengers will save between 1,000 won (86 U.S. cents) and 2,000 won with the transfer discount.

The Seoul city government will first launch the discounts on the Seoul-Incheon International Airport route and gradually expand them to the Seoul-Gimpo International Airport route and Gimpo-Incheon.

The city government hopes the discounts will boost the use of public transportation.
