[Letters] Let North Korea learn lessons from Germany

Dear Sir: The editorial “Unification fund a must” (JoongAng Daily, Sept. 9) is well-received. President Lee Myung-bak deserves a pat on the back for his humanitarian wisdom for the concerns for flood victim in North Korea who need to recognize this goodwill gesture with open arms for all times to come.

The people of Korea, particularly conservative supporters, should welcome it without any ifs and buts of backpedaling on their North Korea policy. North Korea should also be excused for their polluted behavior with relationship management, which is a matter of faith and trust building and is the need of the day.

Opposition leaders in Korea are also faithful to the will of the people who voted them to sit in the opposition to fight for the right cause. Let North Korea learn lessons from the wisdom of Germany after the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

The entire world looks forward to unification with no dearth of funds to flow from one and all including international financial institutions like the World Bank, IMF and above all the international community.
