Sentence upheld in killing of child
The Supreme Court upheld a 17-year jail term yesterday for a Russian woman who killed her 4-year-old daughter by throwing her out the window of their 17th-floor apartment.The 37-year-old mother, whose name was withheld, had been living with her child after separating from her Korean husband. Last February, her husband filed for divorce, and the woman also lost her custody rights to their daughter.
She was arrested the following month. She had denied the charges, but lower courts sentenced her to jail based on CCTV recordings, autopsy results and testimony by witnesses.
