Woori Financial Group volunteers serve food for Vietnamese students in the Vinh Phuc area three hours away from Hanoi.

Woori Financial Group has worked continuously on social contributions with all of its employees volunteering to help those less fortunate. With a warm heart, Woori Financial Group has supported local development, environmental preservation, education, scholarship, culture, arts and sports. These contributions are promoted under Woori Financial Group’s slogan “Together Woori, Happy World.” Woori’s social work is unique in the sense that along with voluntary activities by the employees, the staff also tries to work with citizens to resolve social issues.

Thirty employees selected from the holding company and its 10 subsidiary groups were part of the 1st Global Volunteer Group, in which they visited Vinh Phuc near Hanoi, Vietnam from April 26 to May 1 to help construct a library and dormitories for an employee center. They also cleaned up the area and taught local children while supporting cultural exchanges.

On April 2, the company decided to call a Global Community Service Day and enacted a global volunteer activity with 7,500 employees in overseas branches and in Korea. The company selected the 1st Global Volunteer Group to represent Woori.

The Vinh Phuc area in Vietnam is about three hours by car from Hanoi and the annual income in that region is about $200. Education is hard to come by, but now with the employee center dormitories and library Woori has contributed to better education opportunities for residents.

Vietnam’s CBV Securities employees, which fell under the Woori Investment and Securities banner last year, also participated in a library book donation.

Woori Financial executives also participated and commented that Korea’s status is improving in international society, and that the company will work harder to fulfill social responsibilities as a global financial group.
