Leading European fashion brand MCM has hooked up with a true icon of the industry. The company enlisted famous fashion designer and stylist Patricia Field to create a unique line of bags bearing the MCM brand.

On Nov. 4, MCM held a high-profile fashion event in New York to launch its new Field-designed bags. Participants at the event included everyone from famous models such as Alexandra Richards and Theodora Richards ? the daughters of Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones ? to renowned fashion stylist Phillip Bloch.

Other models including Ally Hilfiger and Allie Rizzo made appearances as well.

The lineup of bags was inspired by Field’s private collection as well as historical works.

The new designs for MCM drew a healthy amount of attention and generated some well-deserved buzz.

The bags - which incorporate the base colors of green and black - reflect the style and energy of New York yet also feature a true classic feel.

The collection on display at the event featured shopper bags made from canvas, backpacks, small handbags and a host of other items. These items were all designed by Field for MCM and incorporate soft leather to give them a luxurious feel.

Field said she attempted to create something unique specifically for MCM while incorporating the traditional features of the brand.

“I wanted to maintain the identity of MCM bags, so I used MCM’s classic design in this collection,” Field said. “However, I made slight changes in terms of the fabric and the color used. My vision for this line was very clear from the beginning. As an MCM fan, I identify the brand as being ‘comfortable.’ And comfortable is always good.”

“Once it gets complicated, that’s when the problems start. The brand incorporates the concept that in every situation you should look for the solution that is the best and most comfortable and then go from there.”

Field rose to fame in the fashion world as the main stylist in charge of designing and choosing the wardrobe for characters on the TV show “Sex and the City.”

She firmed up her reputation as a leading designer with her work on the film “The Devil Wears Prada.” She has also participated in other TV shows including “Ugly Betty.” The MCM Patricia Field Collection is available at Saks Fifth Avenue stores and MCM locations.
