Superstar K starts new search
Mnet’s popular reality show “Superstar K” was bombarded with more than 22,000 applications within eleven hours after it began accepting submissions for season three, which begins Aug. 12.The cable reality show began accepting audition materials at midnight yesterday via telephone and online. The number of candidates was more than 22,000 as of 11 a.m. that day, more than twice as many as last year, according to the producers.
The first round of auditions will continue until June 28 and for the first time bands are being accepted as candidates. The winner of season three will take home a prize of 500 million won ($4,500).

‘슈퍼스타K3’ 오디션 접수 하룻만에 5만명 돌파 대박
월 10일 자정부터 오디션 접수를 시작한 슈퍼스타K3가 만 1일(24시간)만에 ARS 접수 4만 7,000명을 돌파하더니, 오전 1시에 5만 명을 드디어 넘어섰다.
지난해 슈퍼스타K2가 접수 시작 첫 날인 3월 1일 오후 1시부터 자정까지 11시간 동안 2만 902명 이상이 지원한 것과 비교하면 크게 증가했다. 이대로라면 지난해 총 134만 6,402명이 지원했던 오디션 총 지원자 수도 지난해를 뛰어넘을 것으로 조심스럽게 예측되고 있다.
하지만 무엇보다 올해 눈에 띄는 점은 UCC 응모가 지난해 보다 2배 이상 늘었다는 점. 올해는 오디션 접수 첫 날인 3월 10일 UCC를 통해 250여명이 지원했다. 이는 지난해 7일 동안의 UCC 응모 수를 모두 합친 것과 똑같다.
슈퍼스타K3 측은 “슈퍼스타K 출신들이 지난 해 각종 음원 차트를 석권하며 맹위를 떨치고, YG, 에이큐브, 스타제국, 젤리피시 등 유수의 가요 기획사와 계약을 체결하며 가수활동을 활발히 펼치거나 준비 중이라는 소문이 퍼지면서, 오디션 지원자 수도 자연스레 더 증가한 거 같다”며 “더욱이 UCC 응모의 경우 지원자 숫자만 늘어난 것이 아니라 응시자들의 실력도 월등히 좋아져 기대가 크다”고 전했다.
슈퍼스타K3 ARS를 통한 1차 예선 응모는 6월 28일까지 진행되며, 1차 예선 합격자는 4월 24일 부산 예선을 시작으로 7월 3일 서울 예선까지 국내 총 8개 지역 중 선택해 오디션을 치르게 된다.
