2011.4.8 Weekend Picks: V-League finals* Korean Air Jumbos at Samsung Fire Bluefangs
* Chungmu Stadium, Daejeon
* Tomorrow, 2 p.m.
The men’s volleyball championship series started Sunday with the Bluefangs capturing two games on the road in this best-of-seven series.
The Bluefangs will look to close the Korean Professional Volleyball League (V-League) finals at home in Daejeon this weekend, with a potential final match tomorrow deciding the league champion if the Jumbos lost yesterday (yesterday’s result wasn’t available at press time).
The Bluefangs rely heavily on left attacker Gavin Schmitt, who has continued to dominate since the playoffs began. The Canadian scored 46 points in the first game and 50 in the second. The Jumbos need American Evan Patak to better handle Schmitt, and their setter, Han Sun-soo, who injured his knee during the second game, needs to recover quick before it’s too late.
