The law to privatize SNU was passed in the National Assembly last December/ 서울대학 법인화 법은 작년 12월 국회를 통과했다./ - albeit unilaterally by the ruling Grand National Party - / - 한나라당 단독으로 통과시키기는 했지만 - / more than two decades after the issue was first brought up/ 서울대 법인화 문제가 처음 제기 된 후 20년 이상/ and disputed by academics and the government./ 학계와 정부당국이 논의해 온 문제이다./ Reform is a must/ 서울대의 법인화는 불가피한 선택 사항이다/ in order to increase competitiveness in the globalized world of higher education./ 고등교육이 세계화가 된 현실 속에서 경쟁력을 제고 하기위해서는/ Lecturers, administrative staff and students should rack their brains/ 교수진과 행정부서 그리고 학생들 모두가 집안끼리 싸우지 말고 함께 머리를 맞대어 명문대학을 더욱 발전시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색해야 할 것이다./
The school’s management should first put its foot down on privatization,/ 학교경영진은 가능한 한 조속히 법인화를 추진하는/ and at the same time,/동시에/ talk to stakeholders to gather diverse opinions on the university's future./ 대학의 장래에 대한 다양한 의견을 수렴하기위해 관련당국이나 인사들과 협의해야 한다./ Its time for the school's union and its students/ 지금은 노조나 학생들 다 함께/ to stand behind their beloved school and its future./ 애정을 가지고 학교 발전을 뒷받침함으로서/ It is the least they can do to make up for the latest indignity they caused./ 불상사에 대해 조금이나마 보상하게 될 것이다.
