Woods to give clinic in Korea this week

Tiger Woods, the former No. 1 golfer in the world, was scheduled to arrive in Korea late yesterday to give a clinic to junior and amateur golfers this week, his corporate sponsor said.

“Woods will hold sessions at the Jade Palace Golf Club in Chuncheon, Gangwon, on Thursday,” said an official with KPR & Associates, a public relations firm representing Nike Golf Korea. Chuncheon is about 85 kilometers (53 miles) east of Seoul.

“The morning session with juniors will go from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and in the afternoon, it will be from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.,” the official added.

The official said six junior golfers have been invited by Nike Golf Korea for the morning session while 100 amateur golfers selected online will join Woods’ golf camp in the afternoon.

In addition, 500 winners from a separate offline draw will be able to watch Woods’ afternoon lesson from the stands.

Woods’ visit to Korea comes as part of Nike’s Make It Matter youth clinic series.

He made a stop in Shenzhen, China, on Tuesday and was scheduled to spend time in Beijing yesterday before departing for Korea.
