Reality show is back on track with a new cast

테스트

The MBC reality show “Survival: I Am a Singer” is set to return after a month-long hiatus that kept viewers wondering about its fate after one of its stars walked out and a producer was fired.

The network announced on Wednesday a revamped cast list that includes two new singers with space for one more.

Singers Lee So-ra, Park Jung-hyun, Kim Bum-soo and Yoon Do-hyun, who were part of the original cast, have said they will stay for the remainder of the season. Two singers - Kim Gun-mo and Jeong Yeop - were voted off the show. Another vacancy came from Baek Ji-young, who withdrew to work on her next album.

The new cast members are Kim Yeon-woo and Yim Jae-beum. The remaining open slot has not yet been filled.

Kim Gun-mo walked off the show last month after viewers criticized producers for bending the rules and asking him to stay, even though he had been eliminated from competition in episode three. The show’s chief producer, Kim Young-hee, was forced to resign to take responsibility for asking Kim to stay.

Netizens have been buzzing about the two new cast members, as neither one has made many appearances on television.

One fan, Kim Hye-jin, wrote on the show’s bulletin board: “Seeing [Yim] on the show is like hitting the jackpot.”

The show will resume production on April 18.
