ART EXHIBITION - THROUGH YOUR EYES

Thursday to May 27: Swedish Ambassador to Korea Lars Varg is holding a monthlong art exhibit with his textile artist wife Eva Varg under the title, “Through Your Eyes.”

Varg, who is also a poet and an amateur painter, held an art exhibit last year and was credited for his magnificent works of art.

This year’s exhibit will display 21 watercolor paintings and nine oil paintings that Varg painted with a concept of “capturing the moments.”

Meanwhile, Eva Varg is a professional textile artist and has been holding exhibits worldwide including Korea, Sweden, Japan and Lithuania.

Her philosophy has been to include the cycle of sustainable life in her textile works.

The opening ceremony will be at 5 p.m. on Friday at 123 Gallery in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul. The gallery is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day except Sundays.

ART EXHIBITION - TOGETHER IN HARMONY FOR 50 YEARS

Friday to May 17: To celebrate 50 years of friendship between Australia and Korea, the Australian Embassy in Seoul and the Korea Women’s Art Society in Sydney (Kwass) have organized an art exhibit with the title, “Together in Harmony for 50 Years,” with art works by 106 Australian artists.

Kwass is a nonprofit organization established in 2006 to promote activities among Korean-Australian female artists who are based in Sydney.

The artworks have been selected from both Kwass exhibiting members who are Korean-Australians and nonmembers of non-Korea backgrounds.

The opening reception will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
The venue is the Korea Foundation Cultural Center on the first floor of the JoongAng Ilbo building.
