Marking Easter Sunday
Published: 25 Apr. 2011, 01:21
To celebrate Easter Sunday, more than 15,000 people gathered at Yoido Full Gospel Church yesterday at 5 a.m. for a sunrise service. Every Easter Sunday since 2006, protestant churches in Korea hold joint services outdoors. This year, however, they went indoors, in an effort to self-reflect and repent for the many troubles Protestant church leaders have recently caused. The Rev. Lee Shin-woong from Seonggyeol Church, who preached at the service yesterday, said “Churches that should have been the light of the world and give hope for the people have instead riled up the society and disappointed the people.” [YONHAP]
