Korea will soon be singing a whole new tune

Koreans may soon be singing a new tune, literally, when a new song that will be used to promote the country is released today.

The song, called “Four Seasons of Love,” describes the vivid scenery of Korea’s four seasons and was written by Yang Jin-seok, a singer and interior designer.

The song will have its premiere today at the residence of the German ambassador to Korea in Seoul in an event attended by about 70 foreign officials working in Korea and high-profile Korean businessmen, according to Corea Image Communication Institute, which devised the plan.

“The event will be a chance for Korean and foreign participants to mingle and sing the song together,” said Choi Jung-wha, the president of the institute.

The event will feature five high-profile officials and celebrities, such as Peter Tan, Singapore’s ambassador to Korea, singing the song in a mock contest judged by a panel of celebrities that includes actor Park Joong-hoon.

“There are two versions of the song - one in Korean and one in English,” said Kim Mi-hyun, manager of the institute. “A CD will also be released, but people can download the song through online music Web sites.”

In the future, the song could be sung at major national events to promote the country, Kim said.
