2011.6.3 Weekend Picks: FIVB World League Volleyball
* Korea vs. France* Suwon Gymnasium, Suwon, Gyeonggi
* Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m.
Korea impressed last week by collecting its first win against world No. 4 Cuba since 1984 and splitting the two game series. And this weekend, Korea is hoping to continue its success against No. 12 France.
Korea lost its key attackers - Moon Sung-min, Park Chul-woo and Kim Yo-han - to injury before head coach Park Ki-won announced the tournament rosters, but two young players from university teams are successfully filling the void.
Sungkyunkwan University’s Jeon Kwang-In and Kyonggi University’s Choi Hong-suk have been leading the team’s attack. The 20-year-old Jeon is leading the team in scoring, averaging 19 points per match.
Setter Han Sun-soo helps Jeon and Choi hit the ball more effectively, while center Lee Sun-kyu scores with solid front-court blocking.
France, however, has dominated Korea in the past, winning 16 of 24 matches.
