2011.6.3 Weekend Picks: SK Handball Korea League
Published: 02 Jun. 2011, 22:19
* Yongin City Hall (5-1) vs. Seoul City Hall (2-4)
* Yongin Gymnasium, Yongin, Gyeonggi
* Today, 4 p.m.
The Korean handball league kicked off in April and recently completed its first round. Starting today, five teams from the men’s group and seven teams from the women’s group will play in the league’s second round.
In the women’s group, Yongin was able to finish a surprising second behind Incheon Sports Council in the first round after they beat last year’s champion Samcheok City Hall and runner-up Daegu City Hall to likely advance to the playoffs next month.
But the Yongin team may not exist after this month because the city government announced it would shut down the team’s operations due to financial problems.
Seoul currently sits at fifth place and lost 27-32 to Yongin in the first round.
