Seo Taiji may agree to ex-wife’s lawsuit withdrawal
Seo said yesterday that he would agree to his ex-wife’s withdrawal of her lawsuit against him on the condition that the two parties cease slandering each other.
Both sides must agree in order to withdraw a lawsuit.
E Jiah sued in January to divide the couple’s estate following their divorce in the United States. The suit, which became public in April, was a shock to Koreans, who had not known the two celebrities had been married.
To avoid public scrutiny, E expressed her intention of dropping the suit. But Seo insisted that the lawsuit go forward, saying that it would help public misunderstanding.
A fourth hearing for the lawsuit at the Seoul Family Court, scheduled for Monday, was suddenly postponed until Aug. 8 at Seo’s request. Seo’s representatives said in a statement Monday that the request was made to “thoroughly prepare a response to E’s new claim.” E, according to Seo’s representatives, recently claimed that their divorce, which was made in the U.S., could be invalid in Korea.
Late Monday, E’s representatives said that her claim remained unchanged and that she received legal advice to finalize her divorce in Korea to avoid further legal problems.

서태지, 이지아에 조건부 소취하 동의 의사 밝혔다
서태지가 이지아 측의 소송 취하 요구에 '조건부 합의' 의사를 밝혔다. 지난 1월 시작된 서태지-이지아의 법정 공방이 극적타결 될 가능성이 제기된 것이다.
서태지 측은 5일 보도자료를 통해 "지난 주 상대측의 소 취하동의 요청이 있었다. 이에 우리도 '쌍방 부 제소합의', '비방금지' 를 조건으로 합의할 용의가 있음을 밝혔다. 하지만 상대측에서 아직 답변을 하지 않은 상태"라고 전했다. 이지아 측은 서태지 측이 내건 조건을 두고 고심 중인 것으로 알려졌다.
하지만 소송 취하 합의를 위한 물밑 작업을 벌이면서도 양측은 날선 공방도 멈추지 않고 있다. 서태지가 4일로 예정된 변론 기일 연기를 요청한 후 "이지아가 청구취지를 변경했다"고 주장하자 이지아 측은 곧바로 "청구취지를 변경하지 않았다"고 맞받았다. 이지아의 발언에 서태지 측은 5일 또 보도자료를 통해 "이혼 및 위자료, 재산분할 청구로 청구취지를 변경하겠다는 내용을 재판부에 제출한 사실이 있다"며 발끈했다.
또 이지아 측이 '소송 취하에 동의 해주기를 희망한다'고 언론에 밝히자 서태지 측은 "우리도 쌍방 부 제소합의와 비방금지 조건으로 합의할 용의가 있음을 상대측에 밝혔지만 답이 없다"고 말하며 상대측의 입장 표명에 민감하게 대응했다.
