Girls’ Generation goes double platinum in Japan
Girls’ Generation is the first Korean girl group to reach double platinum.
Since their Japanese debut in September 2010 with the single “Tell Me Your Wish,” Girls’ Generation has seen its popularity climb. The group is now the highest-earning foreign artist in Japan.
The group’s first full-length Japanese album, “GIRLS’ GENERATION,” landed first on the weekly Oricon Chart following its release last month.
After their first Japanese arena tour, the group is set to return to Korea for a two-day concert on July 23-24 at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Bangi-dong, Seoul.

한국 걸그룹 중 처음으로 소녀시대가 '더블 플래티넘'을 기록하는 쾌거를 거뒀다. 한국 가수 중 처음으로 '더블 플래티넘'을 기록한 가수는 지난해 2월 일본에서 베스트 앨범 '베스트 셀렉션 2010'을 발매한 동방신기다.
지난 달 소녀시대는 이번 정규 1집으로 발매 첫 주 오리콘 위클리 앨범차트 1위를 차지했다.
소녀시대는 일본 6개 도시에서 14회에 걸쳐 총 14만명 규모로 일본 첫 아레나 투어를 펼치고 있다. 23일과 24일 서울 올림픽공원 체조경기장에서 단독 콘서트를 개최할 예정이다.
