After days of heavy rain in the central region, Daecheong Lake in North Chungcheong was flooded with trash from the upper Geum River. The artificial lake, which holds about 1.5 billion tons of water, was created with the construction of Daecheong Dam in 1980 and is the source of drinking and industrial water for Daejeon and Cheongju.
