Songdo holds international flea market today

The country’s first self-proclaimed “international city,” Songdo International Business District in Incheon, is hosting a flea market today from 3 p.m., with a diverse schedule of events including an auction and a K-pop concert.

The New Songdo International City Development (NSIC), the developer of Songdo International Business District, said it has organized the “Good Market in Songdo,” to encourage environmental awareness and a spirit of sharing in both Koreans and expats in Incheon and other metropolitan areas.

The flea market will have about 200 booths, manned by individuals, companies and organizations, along the district’s Canal Walk.

A promotional event for environment-friendly goods is also planned to sell fair-trade coffee, clothes and books.

The highlight of the event will be a live “Good Auction,” where items donated by celebrities and companies will be auctioned off. Incheon City Mayor Song Young-gil has donated a ceramic glass for the auction.

The showstopper, however, will be a concert at 7 p.m. featuring some of nation’s top K-pop artists including Baek Ji-young, Kim Tae-woo and the girl group Dalshabet.

Another flea market will be held on Oct. 16.

음악과 나눔 정신…`송도 굿마켓` 함께해요

벼룩시장에 즐거운 음악과 나눔 정신이 더해진 즐거운 장터가 인천 송도국제도시에서 열린다.

송도국제도시개발유한회사(이하 NSIC)는 오는 20일 첫 행사를 시작으로 총 3회에 걸쳐 물품 재활용 촉진 및 기부 문화 확산을 위한 `굿마켓(Good Market)`을 커낼워크 가을, 겨울 동에서 개최한다고 3일 밝혔다.

굿마켓은 오는 10월까지 매월 셋째주 주말 중 하루, 오후 3시부터 송도 벼룩시장으로 시작된다.

시장이 파한 저녁 7시부터는 서해안의 석양을 바라보며 음악을 즐길 수 있는 노을 콘서트로 마감된다.

또 기부부스 및 경매에서 이뤄진 판매금과 일반 판매자들 대상 판매금 10% 기부 독려를 통해 마련된 수익금을 어려운 이웃들에게 기부할 계획이다.

NSIC 관계자는 "이번 행사는 물품 재활용을 촉진해 환경에도 기여하지만 수익금의 일부는 어려운 이웃을 위해 기부하는 뜻 깊은 행사"라고 말했다.

한편 NSIC는 오는 16일까지 첫 번째 굿마켓를 위해 판매자를 모집 중이며 참여자는 오는 16일까지 송도IBD 공식블로그(blog.naver.com/songdo_ibd)나 전화(02-501-4611)를 통해 접수하면 된다.
