Six-time LPGA Tour winner Grace Park, also known as Park Ji-eun, is back in KLPGA action for the first time in three years this week at the Metlife Hankyung KLPGA Championship.
The second major tournament of the year for Korea’s Ladies PGA began yesterday with 107 female golfers looking to pocket the winner’s prize of 140 million won.
The tournament has been around for 33 years, since the KLPGA was founded in 1978. This year, it will be held on a par-72, 6712-yard course, the longest of the season.
Rookie Jung Yeon-ju, who won this year’s first major tournament, the Korean Women’s Open, in May, is considered one to watch, as is U.S. Open champion Ryu So-yeon. Leading prize money earner Sim Hyun-hwa will also fancy her chances.
No golfer has won two KLPGA events so far this season.
