NBA lockdown leads to charity match in Miami

MIAMI - Miami Heat stars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will reunite for a charity game on Oct. 8 in Miami for the first time since the Heat lost to Dallas in June’s NBA Finals.

The event, set to be staged at Florida International University, is among a series of scrimmage games featuring top NBA talent that have been played around the U.S. while union leaders and club owners argue over money issues.

Owners locked out players on July 1, saying 22 of 30 league clubs lost money last season. Talks continued Tuesday but the pressure of possible lost games looms.

NBA owners have already wiped out 43 preseason games and could soon cancel more ahead of the planned Nov. 1 opener unless a new deal is reached.
