제7광구를 기억하는 세대라면 ‘저주’를 받아도 좋으니 한번 석유가 콸콸 솟아나는 땅에 살아봤으면 싶을 거다. 영화 ‘7광구’에서 주인공 해준(하지원)은 아버지의 꿈을 이으려 시추작업에 참여한다. 그는 실망하는 동료들에게 말한다. “파는 대로 나오면 그게 석유냐, 식용유지.” 하나 드릴 파이프로 아무리 뚫어도 ‘검은 진주’는 쏟아지지 않는다. 대신 괴물이 인간을 습격한다. ‘산유국 판타지’가 판타지영화에서조차 허락되지 않는 것이다. 산유국의 축복을 누리기란 그만큼 지난하다는 뜻으로 해석해야 할까.

However, no matter where they try and drill down, the black pearls don't gush out. Instead, ⓑa monster attacks the humans. ⓒThe fantasy of becoming an ⓓoil producing country is not allowed even in the world ⓔwithin the fantasy movie. After all, having an oil reserve is an extremely rare blessing.
