[New Releases] “Blue Note: The Essential Edition”

테스트

Seoul had a Blue Note jazz club - for just over two months in 2004. The club announced its “temporary closure” amid colossal losses that were largely the result of a hefty entrance fee (80,000 won or $70 per person) and costly food and drinks. It never came back.

It seems, however, that fans of the Blue Note label in Korea have not been forgotten.

Last month, the Blue Note label released “Blue Note: The Essential Edition,” as a limited edition box set created exclusively for the Korean market. The set, produced and distributed by Warner Music Korea, contains 10 CDs not included in last year’s “Blue Note: Collectors Edition,” which celebrated the 70th birthday of the legendary jazz label.

“The Essential Edition” includes songs such as “Our Man in Paris” by American tenor saxophone player Dexter Gordon, Herbie Hancock’s “Empyrean Isles” and “Back at the Chicken Shack” by jazz organist Jimmy Smith.
