Korean films top Sitges festival
Director Na Hong-jin was named best director for his action-thriller “The Yellow Sea” in the official competition section and the team of brothers Park Chan-wook and Park Chan-kyong was awarded best motion picture for their fantasy-horror film “Night Fishing” in the Noves Visions category. The film, which was shot entirely on an iPhone, also won the Golden Bear for best short at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.
Director Ryoo Seung-wan’s “The Unjust” won the best motion picture award in a category recognizing movies produced in Asia and director Oh Sung-yoon’s animated film “Leafie” received an award for best Sitgest family film in the Gertie Award category for animation.
The annual festival, one of the most recognized festivals focusing on fantasy and horror films, takes place every October in the Catalonian coastal town of Sitges, located southwest of Barcelona. To get the full awards list, go to http://sitgesfilmfestival.com.

황해·부당거래…한국영화, 시체스영화제 대거수상
영화 `마당을 나온 암탉`, `부당거래`, `황해`가 제44회 시체스 국제영화제에서 수상의 영예를 안았다.
16일 폐막한 영화제에서 `마당을 나온 암탉`은 애니메이션부문 최우수 가족영화상을 받았다.
류승완(38) 감독의 `부당거래`는 카사 아시아 대상, 나홍진(37) 감독의 `황해`는 경쟁부문 감독상을 따냈다.
새로운 경향의 작품을 소게하는 `노브스 비전스`부문에서는 박찬욱(48)·찬경(46) 형제의 `파란만장`이 작품상, 오영두(36) 감독의 `에일리언 비키니`가 디스커버리상을 차지했다.
스페인 시체스 국제영화제는 `판타스틱 영화제의 칸`이라고 불린다. 벨기에 브뤼셀 국제판타스틱영화제, 포르투갈 판타스포르토 국제영화제와 함께 세계3대 판타스틱영화제로 꼽힌다.
