SHINee to hold concert in London
SHINee has been invited to open the sixth London Korean Film Festival at Odeon West End Theater with an hour-long concert. It is the first K-pop concert in London. The theater worries that there are some safety concerns since many people will gather around the theater, according to Jeon Hye-jung of the Korean Cultural Center UK, the organizer.
“The theater said that it won’t let us perform there if we don’t come up with security plans similar to the ones the theater had for the recent visit of movie star George Clooney,” said Jeon.
The theater has requested that at least 12 professional security officers patrol the theater, that SHINee use the back door instead of the front one and that any publicity about the SHINee concert near the theater be banned.
The theater asked for such measures just three days before the concert because the popularity of the group has surpassed the theater’s expectations. The theater’s server went down one minute after it started selling tickets due to heavy traffic on the Web site. The theater had never faced such a problem until that day.
Fans who weren’t able to reserve tickets online have been calling the theater and asking for more tickets for the concert, according to KCCUK. A ticket with a face value of 30 pounds ($48) was sold for 120 pounds on an Internet auction Web site on Monday.
