Home shopping in ThaiCJ O Shopping, a Korean cable home-shopping channel, said yesterday that it has agreed with a Thai entertainment firm to set up a home shopping joint venture in Thailand. Under the deal with GMM Grammy, one of the biggest media groups in Thailand, CJ O Shopping will manage the 20 billion won ($17.8 million) venture, and GMM Grammy will take responsibility for marketing and other administrative work, the Korean company said.
CJ O Shopping refused to give specifics on the deal, including how much it will spend on the project. CMM Grammy has 11 satellite and cable TV channels and four radio stations in Thailand.
CJ O Shopping said that it plans to start broadcasting in early 2012 through satellite and cable TV channels around the clock, targeting 10 million viewers in an effort to make inroads into the Southeast Asian country’s retail market worth 7.5 trillion won.
