Hong Kong gets 5-inch Samsung device
Samsung Electronics said yesterday it will release its latest 5-inch mobile device this week in Hong Kong, the most important test market for mainland China, in a bid to grab the attention of tech-savvy consumers there.Samsung last month unveiled the Galaxy Note, hoping to tap into the niche market between smartphones and tablet PCs.
Hong Kong consumers will be able to purchase the latest entry to the flagship Galaxy series this week, officials said.
Samsung said earlier it will launch the Galaxy Note through 70 mobile operators around the world.
The product has been much discussed online among Chinese-speaking consumers for its S Pen feature. This provides users with handwriting-recognition technology to facilitate inputting drawn Chinese characters.
