Hyundai unveils new Genesis

Hyundai Motor yesterday unveiled its all-new premium Genesis sports coupe that features more power, a dynamic exterior and passenger comfort.

The vehicle, which shares the same external dimensions with the older model launched in October 2008, has a large radiator grille, aggressive head lamps and rear light combinations with liberal use of LED lights.

The car, shown for the first time at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam, South Jeolla, comes with two engine choices that have greatly improved its performance compared to the first-generation coupe.

Hyundai said the four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo direct injection (TCi) model has a maximum 275 horsepower with 38.0 kilogram-meters of torque.

This represents a marked improvement of 65 horsepower and 8.0 kilogram-meters of torque from the original coupe.

The more powerful V6 3.8-liter gasoline direct injection (GDi) is rated at 350 horsepower with 40.8 kilogram-meters of torque.

The fuel efficiency for TCi has been established at 11.0 kilometers per liter of fuel, with the GDi version standing at 10.3 kilometers using manual transmission.
