Six Samsung products on 100 best list

Six Samsung Electronics Co.’s products have been included in the 100 best electronics products of the year by PC World, according to the monthly magazine’s Web site yesterday.

The company’s Galaxy SII smartphone and Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer were among the 100 most outstanding technology hardware or software products, applications and services of 2011, the December issue of PC World said.

The monthly magazine picked the Galaxy SII as the year’s fourth-best product in the overall category. It was also the highest-ranking smartphone among the five handsets included in the list.

PC World hailed the Samsung smartphone’s screen quality, data speed and camera. Samsung’s flagship smartphone that uses the Android operating system is available at three U.S. mobile carriers under different names.

The Korean firm’s Series 9 laptop computer using the Windows operating system was ranked in the No. 10 position.

PC World said the ultra-slim portable computer has the looks and performance to compete with the Macbook Air laptop computer by Apple Inc., which was judged the second-best tech product of the year.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer was ranked No. 34.

“The Samsung Galaxy 10.1 was the first Android tablet to show the mobile OS’s potential on the bigger screen,” PC World said.

Samsung’s 46-inch 3-D TV was selected at No. 24. The company’s 4G LTE mobile hotspot, which connects up to 10 mobile devices to the 4G wireless network, and the Series 5 Chromebook laptop computer were also included in the top 100 list.

The best product of the year was judged to be the long-term evolution (LTE) service rolled out by Verizon Communications Inc.
