Yongsan Station area construction order amounts to $7B

Asset Management Company, in charge of developing the Yongsan Station area, said yesterday that it will place an 8 trillion won ($7 billion) construction order for the Yongsan International Business Zone in the second half of next year. The announcement comes after the company placed the single largest order worth 1.4 trillion won to build a landmark tower in the area. A company official said that “the order will sprinkle rain in the construction industry that is expected to suffer from drought as the volume of public construction orders next year will drop significantly with the completion of the four-rivers restoration project.” The official also said that around 31 trillion won will be invested in the project to develop a business zone near the Yongsan Station area, which will have an economic effect worth 67 trillion won, create 360,000 jobs and attract around 5 million foreign tourists annually.
