Doosan to supply Daewoo with 80 engines by 2014

Doosan Engine, the world’s second-largest maker of ship engines, said yesterday it has clinched a 303 billion won ($264 million) order to provide engines used for container ships and power generation.

Under the deal with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Doosan Engine will provide a total of 80 engines by November 2014, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Doosan Engine said it expects to win more orders from Daewoo Shipbuilding, a Korean shipbuilder.

The engine maker said earlier it was targeting 1.8 trillion won worth of orders this year, compared with 890 billion won in orders last year.

Doosan Engine is working to expand its business in China, Brazil, Russia and India through technology tie-ups.
