TVXQ, FTIsland, T-ara and 2PM surge on Oricon charts

Korean idol groups have made their mark in Japan, reaching top 10 spots on the Oricon charts within the same day as their songs’ release.

On Nov. 30, idol groups TVXQ, FTIsland and T-ara all managed to make it in the top 10 spots for the Oricon singles chart. TVXQ’s single “Winter” sold 76,615 copies on the first day of release, taking the band to second place on the Oricon daily chart. FTIsland also released their song “Distance” and made it to the fourth spot. Meanwhile, girl group T-ara claimed the seventh spot on the same chart with their new song “YAYAYA.” A collaboration song featuring various singers of JYP Entertainment titled “This Christmas” came in at 14th. JYP musicians including the Wonder Girls and boy groups 2PM and 2AM participated in the Christmas song.

2PM sold 25,756 copies of their first Japanese regular album, which contains 12 tracks and made it to second place on the weekly Oricon album chart on the same day.
