Tears of grief
At a memorial service in front of the Japanese Embassy in Jongno District, central Seoul, Lee Yong-sun, a former “comfort woman” who was forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II, sheds tears yesterday, holding the ashes of the late Ko Su-bok, another former comfort woman, who was forcibly taken to Thailand by the Japanese and died there on Nov. 4 at the age of 90. Ko’s ashes were flown back to Korea yesterday. [YONHAP]
