‘사내 대장부가 흘리지 말아야 할 것은 눈물만이 아니다’라는 건 틀린 말이다. 화장실 매너를 지키라는 얘기지만 전제가 잘못됐다. 남자의 눈물이란 오줌 방울만큼 가치 없는 게 아니다. 특히 지도자의 눈물은 그렇다.

ⓐ the leader → a leader 내용상 어느 특정 집단의 리더를 뜻하는 것이 아니라 일반적으로 리더를 지칭하는 상황이므로 부정관사 a를 사용하는 것이 타당함

히틀러가 그랬다. 사실 그는 좀 병적이었다. 감정을 임계점까지 틀어막아 놨다가 발작적으로 울음보를 터뜨리곤 했다. 나치당 확립에 공헌한 오토 슈트라서의 탈당을 막기 위해 밤샘 설득을 하는 동안 그는 그런 울음보를 세 번이나 터뜨렸다. 그래도 막지 못하고 혼자 남아 또 울어야 했다.
