Liberal parties, federation agree to merge by Dec. 18

Leaders of the Democratic Party, Civil Unity Party and Federation of Korean Trade Unions hold a joint meeting yesterday at the National Assembly to discuss how to merge into a new political party. At the meeting, they agreed to create a new party by Dec. 18. “We plan to register the new party with the National Election Commission by Dec. 19,” spokesmen from the Democratic Party and the Civil Unity Party said in a joint press conference. The new party will include “Democratic” in its name. By Oh Jong-taek
