Samsung Electronics to undergo major reorganizationSamsung Electronics will reorganize its business into two umbrella operations of components and finished products next year, a widely expected move aimed at reinforcing independence for its wide-ranging consumer electronics businesses.
In 2012, Samsung will rearrange its operation into Digital Media & Communications, which oversees TVs, handsets and other finished consumer electronics products, and Device Solutions to be in charge of supplying electronics components, such as memory chips and liquid-crystal display panels, it said in a statement.
Choi Gee-sung, the chief executive officer and vice chairman, will run the division that manufactures and sells finished products, and Kwon Oh-hyun, who was promoted to vice chairman earlier this month, will continue to run the component-supply business.
“Through the reorganization, the independent management between finished products and components is expected to reinforce the wall between businesses and enhance trust with our clients,” the statement said.
