Seungri from boy band Big Bang will take his talents to the MBC drama “Light and Shadow” on Dec. 26.
The program is a retro drama that looks back on historic moments in the last 50 years of modern Korean society.
The member of the popular K-pop band will play a character who is from South Jeolla.
A member of the production team revealed details about the idol singer’s character: “The role played by Seungri is an aspiring singer from the country. That character is baring and bold as well as being humorous and a lot like the singer himself.”
Seungri said he is excited to portray a character that the boy band singer can relate to. “It’s my first time featuring in a retro era drama. I can relate a lot to the character that I’ll be playing and so I’m looking forward to filming the episode.”
Seungri’s participation in the drama signifies the resumption of an official schedule by the five-member boy band that has been keeping a low profile for the majority of the year following member DaeSung’s car accident in May and G-Dragon’s scandal involving marijuana at a Japanese club.
The band returned to the stage on Dec. 4 at the YG Family Concert in Seoul.
