‘Never Ending Story’ opens on Jan. 19

A romantic comedy featuring actress Jung Ryeo-won and actor Uhm Tae-woong is set to open on Jan. 19. The movie, titled “Never Ending Story,” is a tale of two lovers who meet one another at a hospital where they are told that they don’t have long to live. The movie is an optimistic, upbeat romance with some heart-wrenching, teary moments. The producer, Island Pictures, announced that the movie will open prior to the Chinese New Year.

“The movie may sound morbid as the characters have terminal illnesses, but we have taken an otherwise dark genre to make it fun, positive and hopeful for the viewers just in time for Chinese New Year. We think the audience will be able to recharge and find all the optimism they need to take on another year,” a representative from Island Pictures said. The chemistry between the two leading characters is thought to be realistic enough to draw crowds in.

Jung made her debut as a singer in the girl group Chakra in 2000 and rose to fame for her role in the comedy drama “My Lovely Sam-soon” in 2005. Uhm began his career in film in the movie “The Happenings” in 1998.
