Boy band T-max call it quits after four years together

Boy band T-max has decided to disband after four years together, the group’s agency announced on Jan. 4. A representative from the agency told local media that the band members have decided to pursue separate careers.

Kim Jun – arguably the most popular member of T-max – left the group last September to fulfill his military service obligation, and since then, the other members have focused on individual acts.

Since the break-up, one of the four members, Shin Min-chul, has already expressed interest in forming his own record label and pursuing a solo career.

Although the band made its debut in 2007 with the album “Blooming,” it did not draw a significant fan base until 2009, when Kim began appearing in the hit teen drama “Boys Over Flowers.”

Earlier last year, another member also left the band for military service, and two new members, Joo Chan-yang and Park Han-bi, were recruited, making the band into a quartet from the original trio act.

The agency tried to stay positive, though, and insisted that the dissolution may not be permanent.

“It’s hard to call it a break-up because the intent is there to reconcile whenever the schedules of each member align,” it said.
