Track from 2AM tops Japan preorders

Boy band 2AM’s new track “Never Let You Go” is off to a promising start in Japan as it has topped Tower Records’ preorder chart a week before it is due to be released there.

The band’s first Japanese album, due for release on Jan. 11, features a title track of the same name and two additional songs. Though originally composed in Korean, the songs on the new album have been translated and recorded in Japanese.

“Never Let You Go” was released in Korea in 2010 and was an instant hit that stayed at the top of the charts for many weeks.

Following the release of the album in Japan, the four-member boy band will perform at concerts in the cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya from Jan. 24 to Feb. 9. Tickets for the show went on sale in Japan on Dec. 17, and according to the band’s agency, sold out within 10 minutes.

The Japanese version of 2AM’s songs will also be available to Korean fans on various music Web sites starting in mid-January.
