Ha Jung-woo to play Andre Kim in movie
Actor Ha Jung-woo is set to play a young Andre Kim in a biographical movie about the late fashion designer.“Last year we sat down with Kim’s son and signed a contract for a movie about the life of his deceased father,” an official with Fantagio Pictures, which will produce the film, said Jan. 10. “The movie is tentatively titled ‘Andre Kim’ and filming has already begun.”
While other cast members have yet to be announced, the film is set to open late next year.
Fantagio Pictures is a subsidiary of the entertainment agency Fantagio, to which Ha belongs.
This is Fantagio Pictures’ first movie and the company has said that having the backing of the parent company has enabled the production planning, public relations and marketing efforts go ahead smoothly.
The movie, set in the 1960s, is about the legendary fashion icon. It will focus on the life and triumphs of Kim, who was the first man to design women’s apparel in the Korean fashion industry.
Kim passed away in August 2010.
