K-pop stars named to be coaches on the new singing survival show

On Jan. 10, a representative from the new singing audition show “The Voice of Korea” revealed the four singer-celebrities who will coach contestants on the program: Shin Seung-hun, Kangta, Gil and Baek Ji-young.

“The aspect of the program that appealed to me was the chance to be able to help individuals learn and grow. Being able to enhance a contestant’s individuality and unleash their potential while being their encourager and supporter was what prompted me to take part in the show,” said Shin.

Meanwhile a program director of the show said that the new program was unlike any other currently airing.

“Contestants are important, but we are of the stance that having professional singers with their experience, giving support and one-on-one coaching can transform a solid performer into a super star. In that respect, our show is unlike any other singing survival show,” said the show’s representative.

The program, set to air for the first time on Feb. 10, will consist of the four celebrities mentoring and coaching contestants as they battle other contestants on the show to seize first place.
