In the previous legislative elections in 2008, the GNP established a nomination screening committee with a multitude of outsiders./ 이전의 2008년 국회의원선거에서도 한나라당은 다수의 외부인사로 공천심사위원회를 구성했다/ The chairmanship was taken by Ahn Kang-min, former head of the powerful central investigation unit of the prosecution./ 위원장은 안강민 전 대검 중수부장이 맡았다/ As a chief prosecutor, Ahn led investigations into the slush fund scandals by former presidents Chun Doo Hwan and Roh Tae-woo./ 안부장은 전 전두환과 노태우 대통령의 비자금 스캔들을 수사했던 인물이었다/ The party hired him as a symbol of strict neutrality in the nomination./ 한나라당은 후보자에 대한 엄정한 중립성의 상징으로 그를 임명한 것이다/ The committee, however, was shaken by mounting pressure from the pro-Lee Myung-bak faction in the party./ 그러나 공천심사위원회는 당내의 이명박계의 핵심인사의 압박에 흔들렸다/ As a result, a number of pro-Park Geun-hye lawmakers were denied nominations in what was dubbed a “nomination massacre.”/ 그 결과 박근혜계 의원들이 “공천 학살”이라는 미명하에 공천에서 대거 탈락했다/ The committee excluded many legislators with outstanding records because they were part of anti-Lee Myung-bak forces./ 공천심사위원회는 그들이 반 이명박 세력이라는 이유 때문에 현저한 업적을 가지고 있음에도 불구하고 많은 의원들을 배제했다/
Since the crisis, the factional schism deepened and the pro-Park group has refused to cooperate with the government./ 공천 위기 이후 계파갈등은 깊어졌고 박근혜 계는 국정에 협력하기를 거부했다/ The conflict over the nomination is likely to emerge this time, too./ 공천에 대한 갈등은 이번에도 역시 불거질 것 같다/ As soon as the nomination committee was launched, it demanded a change of the guard rather than approaching the issue from the perspective of a fair system./ 공천심사위원회는 출범하자마자 공정한 제도 관점에서 문제에 접근하기 보다는 인적쇄신을 요구했다/ Now several committee members vehemently insist those responsible for Lee’s governance failure - i.e. pro-Lee forces - step back and retreat before the election./ 지금 몇 몇 공천심사위원회 위원들이 이명박 정부의 실패에 책임이 있는 사람들-예를 들어, 이명박 계-은 선거전에 용퇴를 해야 한다고 격렬하게 주장하고 있는 것이다/ But it will only incur more conflict from the pro-Lee faction./ 그러나 이것은 이명박 계로부터 더 많은 갈등만을 유발할 뿐이다/
A political party thrives on a fair nomination./ 정당은 공정한 후보 공천으로 번성한다/ Only when it operates its nomination committee fairly and objectively can the dropouts be persuaded./ 정당이 공천심사위원회를 공정하고 객관적으로 운영을 해야만 탈락자들을 설득할 수 있을 것이다/ The GNP’s emergency council headed by Park Geun-hye should be able to protect the neutrality of the nomination committee./ 박근혜가 주도하고 있는 한나라당의 비대위는 후보공천심사위원회의 중립성을 보호해야만 한다/ Park and the pro-Park group should not get involved in the nomination process without reminding themselves of the nightmare they suffered four year ago./ 박근혜와 박근혜계는 4년 전 그들이 당했던 악몽을 잊지 말고 후보 공천절차에 개입하지 말아야 한다/ If the party fails to do that - no matter how glitzy the policies it may come up with - a genuine makeover is far-fetched./ 만약 정당이 공정한 공천에 실패판다면 아무리 화려한 정책을 내 놓는다 해도 진정한 변화는 힘들 것이다/
