Big Bang

Big Bang is back. The band’s single “Blue” was released online at midnight yesterday, and by 9 a.m., the song had reached the No. 1 spot on various online music charts, such as Melon, MNet and Naver Music.

The hit single, which focuses on the pain felt by a man during a break-up, is the band’s first song to top the charts in more than 10 months. The single’s release comes one week before Big Band’s new seven-track EP “Alive” hits stores on Wednesday.

The band’s agency shocked fans by declaring that all the songs on the EP will be promoted as singles. The decision is an unprecedented move both in the Korean and overseas music industries.

“The music video, which was released at the same time as the song, has managed to generate more than 20,000 comments in just seven hours,” YG Entertainment said of the song’s success.

Big Bang will kick off its world tour in Seoul on March 3 and will then make its way through 16 countries in Asia, the Americas and Europe.
