HHI unit wins order for 4 carriers from Kuwait firm

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard said yesterday that it has received a 279 billion won ($250 million) order to build four product carriers.

Under the deal with Kuwait Oil Tanker, the shipbuilder will deliver the vessels by the end of August 2014, it said in a regulatory filing. Hyundai Mipo, a unit of the world’s largest shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries, has clinched deals valued at $400 million this year to build a total of eight vessels.

It has targeted orders worth $3.2 billion for 2012, up 80 percent from last year.
