Popular Galaxy Note to drive Samsung’s sales in first half
The Galaxy Note is likely to make a significant contribution to Samsung Electronics’ earnings in the first half due to the strong sales of the mobile gadget, J.P. Morgan said yesterday.“We forecast the Galaxy Note’s earnings to be almost the same as those of the Galaxy S series - S1, S2 and upcoming S3,” the investment bank said in a report. “Hence, we believe the Galaxy Note will be the main earnings driver in the first half of 2012, followed by the upcoming Galaxy S3 in the second half.”
The device, which has a 5.3-inch super active-matrix organic light-emitting diode display, was unveiled last November. By the end of December, global sales had surpassed 1 million. Meanwhile, total sales of the Galaxy S II surpassed the 20 million mark in domestic and overseas markets on Feb. 10 months after its debut. Yonhap
