Blocking the rocks

Activists hold up signs yesterday protesting the construction of the Jeju Island naval base and the destruction of the Gureombi rocks along the Jeju seashore in Gangjeong Village. The base’s construction company began a surprise blasting of the rocks along the Gureombi seashore on Monday, a day earlier than expected. Though construction began on March 7, this is the first time the rocks along the shore were blasted. [YONHAP]
